2024: Second Team All-EAGL (floor). . . EAGL All-Scholastic Team. . .Saw action in all 13 meets, 13 on floor, seven on beam, and nine on vault. . . Averaged 9.830 on vault with a NQS score of 9.860 with 10 scores of 9.8 or better, including two 9.9 scores and one event win with a career-high 9.925. . . Helped the Owls to a season-high 49.075 against Towson on Jan. 21 with a career-high 9.775. . Added 10 scores of 9.7 or better on floor where she averaged 9.745 with an NQS of 9.825, and added a season-best 9.925 at home on Senior Day against William and Mary, LIU, and West Chester (March 10), helping the Owls break the school record with a 49.575 . . . had two scores of 9.7 or better on beam with a career-high 9.750 at Towson on Feb. 23. . . Earned three scores of 9.7 or better on vault including a 9.775 versus Towson on Jan. 21.
Before Temple
Payton has been a Level 10 gymnast since 2021 and trains at Northeast Gymnastics Academy in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. In her first season as an L10, Payton qualified for the Junior Olympic Nationals in Daytona Beach, Fla. After placing fifth in the all-around and second on the floor at the Region 7 Championships, the Pennsylvania native had a strong showing at the JO event where she earned a top-15 finish on the floor exercise. In 2022, Payton finished fifth in the all-around and fourth in the floor exercise at the Level 10 State Championships. There she moved on to the Region 7 Championships, placing sixth place on floor. At the 2022 Christmas on the Chesapeake meet, she earned a personal-best score of 9.8 in the floor exercise, giving her first place for the second time of three as an L10.
Personal: Away from the gym, Payton enjoys photography, painting, skiing, and volunteers her time to community service each year. In the classroom, Monk has been an exceptional student at Wyoming Seminary, earning dean’s list honors in each of the last three years, while adding a 4.0 for her first term during her senior year in 2022. . . . plans on majoring in Business management.
