Box Score
PHILADELPHIA – Bridget Settles scored all three goals for the Temple field hockey team (4-9) as the Owls defeated Penn (3-7) on Sunday afternoon. The victory snaps the Owls' six-game losing streak as they defeated their cross-town foe in the final tune-up before A-10 play begins.
Settles struck early in the contest when she received a pass from Mandi Ruth and was able to slide it into the back corner of the net to give the Owls an early 1-0 lead. It was the third time in the last four games that the Cherry and White had taken the early lead in the game.
Settles' second goal came with less than three minutes remaining in the first half when she picked up a rebound off of a shot by Charise Young and directed the ball into the back of the cage. Sarah Dalrymple followed up her busy day on Friday with her second career shutout. Dalrymple made three saves on the day.
The Owls outshot the Quakers 17-6 and also led in penalty corners 7-3. Young led all players with six shots, two of which were on goal.
