OXFORD, OHIO - Temple, off to a 6-2 start for the first time in a decade (1999-00), travels to Miami University for a Tuesday night (7:00 p.m./1210 AM WPHT) clash with the RedHawks. Miami is the third of five Mid-American Conference teams on the Owls schedule. Temple has won its first two MAC encounters and will be look to avenge a 68-52 loss to Miami in last season's home-opener.
Defense has led the way for the Cherry and White through the first eight games of the season as fourth-year head coach Fran Dunphy's charges are holding opponents to 54.2 points per game. The Owls were ranked sixth in three-point percentage defense (.231), seventh in scoring defense and 14th in field goal percentage (.402) in the NCAA's first ranking issued Nov. 30. Temple has held six of its eight opponents to 56 points or less.

Senior co-captain Luis Guzman (4.1 ppg.) tops the squad with a 2.2 assist-to-turnover ratio with junior Craig Williams (6.0 ppg.), starting the last four games due to a knee injury to 6-11 forward Micheal Eric (5.2 ppg.).
