PHILADELPHIA (8/30/09) - Sophomore forward Bridget Settles scored twice and recorded an assist in leading the Temple field hockey team to a 4-1 win in its home opener against St. Francis (PA).

The Owls notched two early goals, with Settles scoring her first less than three minutes into the game off an assist from junior Taryn Nichols, and the two reversed roles in Temple's second goal just three minutes later.

Kristen Wanner put Temple up 3-0 on a penalty corner midway through the first period with assists from sophomore Kaylee Keener and senior Charise Young.

Settles struck again on a penalty corner halfway through the second period, with Keener and Young notching their second assists.

The Red Flash prevented a shutout shortly after Temple's fourth goal when freshman Kate Rossman scored off an assist from Allison Goldstein.

Temple's junior goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple played the complete game to earn the win, and recorded five saves.

The Owls will take just two days off before returning to action on Tuesday, Sept. 1 in a 3:00 p.m. game against Rider. The game is at home for Temple, but will once again be played at Drexel's Buckley Field due to ongoing construction at Geasey Field.
