Katey DeIaco nets first career goal in loss

LEWISBURG, Pa. – Junior Katey DeIaco scored her first career goal, but it was not enough for the Temple field hockey team (3-8) as they fell on the road to Bucknell (6-3) by a score of 2-1 early Sunday afternoon.
DeIaco got the Owls on the scoreboard first when she sent a rebound off a corner past Bison goalkeeper Jessie Atieh and into the back of the goal to give Temple a 1-0 lead four minutes into the game. It was the second straight contest that the Owls were able to tally the first goal.
The Owls maintained the lead until three minutes before halftime when Marci Richard put the Bison on the board. Tayler Siegrist would net the game-winner for Bucknell halfway through the second half to send the Owls to another tough road loss.
Statistically, the Cherry and White led in nearly every offensive category including shots (12-9), shots on goal (6-5), and penalty corners (7-6).
Up next on the schedule for the Owls is undefeated and 13th-ranked Stanford on Friday, Oct. 2nd. The game is set for 3:00 p.m. at home on Geasey Field.
