PHILADELPHIA - Kaylee Keener scored the lone goal of the contest early in the second half to give the Cherry and White a 1-0 victory over Saint Joseph's Friday afternoon at Geasey Field. The win puts the Owls at 5-8 on the year and 1-0 in Atlantic 10 conference play while the Hawks fall to 3-8 on the season and 0-1 in the A-10.
The Temple offense mounted a steady attack in the first half as it recorded eight shots on the Hawks' goalkeeper Kelly Swanick. The Owls' defense shut down the Hawks in the first half as they held Saint Joseph's to only two shots on goal.
After Keener's goal, assisted by Bridget Settles, Temple continued their balanced attack as it registered five shots on goal in the second half while limiting the Hawks to only two shots on goal. Caryn Lambright and Settles each recorded two shots on goal for the Owls.
Temple goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple stopped all four shots to earn her fourth shutout of the season.
The Cherry and White return to action Sunday afternoon at 1:00 pm for Alumni Day against Penn at Geasey Field.
