PHILADELPHIA – Drexel received second-half goals from Jen Cairone and Ashley Santee to lift the No. 16 Dragons to a 3-1 victory over the Cherry and White Wednesday afternoon at Geasey Field. Drexel improved to 4-3 while Temple dropped their fourth straight game to fall to 4-4 on the season.
Bridget Settles added to her team lead in points as she found the back of the net 13 minutes into the game for her seventh goal of the season. Drexel answered six minutes later when Ashley Santee tipped in a Jen Cairone shot to tie the contest at 1-1.
The teams had five shots each in the first half but the Owls ended up on the defensive end for most of the second half as Drexel outshot Temple 10-5.
Temple goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple made eight saves on 15 shots. Despite the loss, the Owls played a strong contest against the nationally-ranked Dragons.
The Owls return to the field Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. against No. 15 American University in the last of a five-game homestand for TU.
