PHILADELPHIA - Junior guard Ramone Moore and classmate forward Scootie Randall each scored in double-digits as Temple took down Saint Louis, 57-53, Sunday afternoon in the Liacouras Center for the Owls' 14th-straight home win.  Temple is now 11-3, 2-0 in Atlantic 10 play, posting its fifth consecutive victory over the Billikens, who fall to 5-10, 0-2 in A-10.

Moore matched his season average with 15 points on the day, meeting his season-high with a team-best eight rebounds.  Randall recorded 10 points, going two-for-four from three point land and adding five rebounds.  Sophomore guard T.J. DiLeo was impactful off the bench for Temple, playing a career-high 22 minutes and scoring seven points.

The Billikens were led by a double-double from junior forward Brian Conklin (11 pts, 11 reb), and two 12-point efforts from freshman guards Mike McCall and Jordair Jett.  The Owls held SLU leading point-man Kyle Cassity scoreless in the contest.

Both benches were without two key components, as Saint Louis head coach Rick Majerus did not make the trip to Philadelphia and Temple junior point guard Juan Fernandez was sidelined with a knee injury.  It was the first time all season that the Owls have had to alter their starting five.

Temple struggled from the field in the first half, going two-for-10 from the floor to the first media timeout at 14:58.  The Billikens would do no better, maintaining a 6-4 lead to that point while going three-for-eight as a team.

A pair of two's from the Billikens sandwiched two made free throws from Eric at 13:26, the Owls' only points until sophomore guard Khalif Wyatt, starting in place of Fernandez, converted an old-fashioned three-point play to cut SLU's lead to 11-9 at 8:59.

DiLeo answered a two from SLU's Conklin with one of his own at 7:18 to bring the Owls to within a bucket at 13-11.  The Billikens would attempt to pull away again on a jumper from sophomore forward Cory Remekun, but a nice mid-range jumper from sophomore forward Rahlir Jefferson (6 pts, 7 rebs) on the other end kept the two-point margin at 15-13 with 6:41 left in the first.

A clutch stop on the defensive end changed the momentum for Temple and led to the first lead change of the game, as a pair of free throws from Wyatt and another jumper from Jefferson gave the Owls a 17-15 advantage with 4:30 to go.

Two from the charity stripe by SLU's McCall tied the game back up at 17-17, but a big three from Randall gave Temple the lead again at 20-17 with 4:08 remaining.  The lead would not last, however, as Saint Louis posted a 6-0 run on jumpers from Remekun and Jett, and a three from McCall to go up 23-20 just under two minutes left in the first.

An inside bucket after an offensive rebound from Allen temporarily halted the Billikens, who answered with a two from McCall.  It would be the Owls who went into the locker room with the lead, as a layup from Wyatt and a trey from DiLeo with six seconds on the clock gave Temple a 27-25 edge at the break.

Temple seemed energized out of the break, with a block from Eric on the Billikens' first possession leading to a dunk on the other end from Allen.  The cold streak would return to the Owls as six straight misses allowed Saint Louis to tally four consective baskets - McCall, Rob Loe, Conklin, Jett - for a 33-29 lead at 14:21.

The Owls worked inside to Eric to break the drought, but the Billikens would build their largest lead yet, 41-32, on a 8-1 run sparked by a layup from Jett.

Randall gave Temple life with a three at 9:14, and after a defensive stop DiLeo hit a streaking freshman guard Aaron Brown for a fastbreak layup as the momentum began to shift in the Owls' favor.  A two from SLU freshman Dwayne Evans were the only points in a 11-2 TU run, which was capped off by a jumper from Randall, a follow-up dunk by Jefferson and a fade away jumper from Moore to even the score at 43-43 with 5:59 remaining.

Neither side would let up, as the Billikens' regained lead was quickly answered by free throws from Moore and a two from Randall to knot the game at 47-47 with 4:22 left.  SLU's Evans hit a jumper that was erased by a pair of free throws by DiLeo, and with the Billikens in foul trouble Moore went to the line twice, going three-for-four to put Temple up 52-49 with 1:56 to play.

Moore capped off a personal 5-0 run with a layup on a feed from Jefferson to give Temple its largest lead of the game at 54-49.

The Billikens closed to within one on four points from Jett, but an intentional foul called on McCall sent Brown to the line.  He made both to give Temple a three-point lead, 56-53, with :21 left.  A costly turnover on the opposite end by McCall forced Cassity to foul Moore, who made one-of-two at the line, giving Temple a 57-53 win.

Despite shooting a season-low from the fl oor (30.6%), the Owls prevailed by holding Saint Louis to 53 points, the third fewest by a TU opponent this season.

Up next, Temple hosts St. Bonaventure in the first of two consecutive Wednesday doubleheaders with the Owls' women's basketball team.  The Temple women play Rhode Island at 5:00 p.m. with the men's game against the Bonnies starting at 7:30 p.m.  Both games can be viewed on Owl Access.
