PHILADELPHIA
- The home court dominance continued for #23/25 Temple as the Owls upended Richmond, 73-53, at the Liacouras Center on Thursday night.  Led by a pair of 20-point performances from juniors Juan Fernandez and Ramone Moore, the Owls earned their fourth-straight 20-win season, improving to 20-5 overall, 10-2 in Atlantic 10 play.

The backcourt duo fueled Temple's 20th consecutive win in their home building.  Moore (10-15, 4-5 3-ptr) recorded a game-high 24 points, while Fernandez, draining his first seven shots (9-10, 2-3 3-ptr), matched his season-best with 20.

Senior Lavoy Allen (8 pts, 4 asts, 3 blks) and sophomore Rahlir Jefferson each pulled down a game-high seven rebounds.  Allen passed Jim Williams (1963-66, 1,031) to move into sole possession of second place all-time on the Temple rebounding list with 1,033.  Jefferson, making his second career start, filled in nicely for the injured Micheal Eric and added four points.

Richmond, now 20-7, 9-3 in league play, had three players score in double-figures led by 15 points from senior guard Kevin Anderson.  Senior forward Justin Harper was held to 14 points and redshirt-senior Dan Geriot added 11.

Neither team would lead by more than two until the Spiders managed to get a 10-6 lead with 16:15 to play in the first.  Six points from Harper early on helped Richmond build the lead, but a three by Fernandez brought the Owls back to within one at 10-9 with 15:53 on the clock.

Just seconds later (15:26) Fernandez picked up his second foul and was forced to sit, with sophomore Khalif Wyatt (making his first appearance of the evening.

After a one-for-two showing at the line from junior forward Scootie Randall to tie the game, the Owls regained the lead, 12-10, on a strong drive by Moore at 13:42.  Moore struck again to give Temple a five point advantage, draining a three in front of the Richmond bench on the next possession.

The biggest shot of the half came on a three in the corner from Randall at 9:27, sparking a 11-2 run to give Temple its largest lead of the stanza, 28-16 with 5:53 left in the half.  A two from Harper was followed by eight straight points from the Owls, which included twos from Jefferson, Moore, Randall and Fernandez.

Richmond battled back, but Temple would maintain a 10-point margin thanks to Moore's third trey of the half (2:47) and a strip and steal by sophomore T.J. DiLeo, which he took himself on a fastbreak to put the Owls up 38-26 with 2:13 left.  Temple would take a 38-29 lead into the locker room.

The Spiders chipped into the Owls' lead out of the break to come within five at 38-33, but an 16-0 Temple run put the home team back up by double-digits, 54-33, with 13:52 left.  Five different Owls scored in the run, which featured a fastbreak dunk by Moore at 16:00, an old-fashioned three point play by Wyatt at 14:58, and finally three by Fernandez to give the Owls at 21-point lead.

Moore continued to have the hot hand for the Owls, nailing his fourth three of the game to reach the 20-point mark on the evening and give Temple a 57-39 lead with 9:55 remaining.

The Owls would not trail for the remainder of the contest, commanding a double-digit lead the rest of the way.  Temple's largest lead of the game, 73-48, came after an 4-0 run, sparked by a pair of jumpers from Fernandez and Moore at 1:38.  As a unit, the Owls shot 60.0% from the field in the second half, shooting 55.6% on the game.

Temple hosts Saint Joseph's Sunday afternoon (4:00 p.m./Comcast SportsNet/1340 AM WHAT) in an A-10/Big 5 game.  The Owl Club Auction will take place around the game and Temple's three new Hall of Famers, Rick Brunson, Eddie Jones and Aaron McKie, will be introduced at halftime.
