PHILADELPHIA - On Katie Briglia Day, the Owls' senior came through with the final goal of the game as Temple field hockey defeated Saint Joseph's, 4-1, in the final regular season game. Temple had already secured a berth in next weekend's Atlantic 10 Tournament, and the third-seeded Owls will face second-seeded UMass at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 2. All tournament games will take place at UMass on Nov. 2 and 3. Richmond is the top seed and will face fourth-seeded VCU at 11:00 a.m. on Friday.

Temple finishes the regular season with a record of 12-8, and a 5-2 mark in the Atlantic 10 to place third. Saint Joseph finishes the season at 4-15 overall and 1-6 in the conference.

"This team always comes through for its seniors," said Temple head coach Amanda Janney. "They really wanted to play great for Katie and win for her on her day. Katie deserves all the accolades she gets- she's such a hard worker. She's such a great player and great captain and we're so happy she got a goal today because she deserves to score on Senior Day."

"There was a lot of emotions coming into today," said Briglia. "They showed me videos before the game of past alumni talking about me. It was a lot to handle and I had a lot of fans come see me today. I really wanted to win today so I'm so glad we pulled that out and it makes the day that much better. It was definitely fun to score on Senior Day."

The Owls recorded double the shots of Saint Joseph's in the first half, getting 12 to the Hawks' six. In the 15th minute, Temple was the first team on the board when Tricia Light crossed the ball from the left side of the cage to Alyssa Delp, whose quick touch put the ball past SJU goalkeeper Kate Mitchell.

The 1-0 lead stood for 10 minutes until a Hawks' penalty corner resulted in their only goal of the game. Jordan Martin took the pass from Jordan Cotter after the initial corner and scored to even the game at 1-1.

With less than four minutes until halftime, a long pass from Molly Doyle found the stick of Amber Youtz in the front right of the cage as the gave the Owls a 2-1 lead.

In the 45th minute, Lauren Hunt was able to corral a rebounded shot and save and put Temple up 3-1. That score looked as though it would become final, but with less than two minutes remaining, the Owls earned a corner and Briglia found the back of the cage on a well-executed play with assists from Nicole Kroener and Mandi Shearer.

Temple goalkeeper Lizzy Millen played 58:30 in goal and made four saves while allowing just the one goal. For the game, Temple out-shot Saint Joseph's 18-8.
