AMBLER –
Coming off a 2-1 weekend at Skip Wilson Field, the Owls cap their current four-game homestand today when they host Philadelphia Big 5 rival La Salle for a midweek non-conference affair beginning at 3:00 p.m.

Temple, who is looking to shake off its 9-4 setback to the Iona Gaels on Sunday, won the first two games of its first home series over the weekend, defeating Central Connecticut, 10-6 on Friday, before downing Maryland Eastern Shore by a count of 8-4 on Saturday afternoon.

La Salle makes its way to Ambler following a 1-2 weekend at East Tennessee State. The Explorers won the middle game of the set by a count of 6-3 behind senior Kevin Christy, who struck out nine and allowed two runs off five hits, while Dan Klem provided an offensive spark with his first home run of the season.

On the hill for the Owls today making his second start this season will be senior captain and left handed pitcher Dan Moller. In his first start, which was at VCU last Tuesday, Moller pitched a solid 4.1 innings of work. Going up against VCU's potent offense, Moller kept the Owls in the ballgame, as he allowed five runs on eight hits while ringing four batters up on strikes.

Making his third start for the Blue & Gold this season today and going up against Moller will be sophomore southpaw Dominic Sgroi.

Redshirt senior Steve Nikorak had a lot to do with the Owls' success over the weekend, as he batted .727 in the three games, going 8-for-11, including five extra-base hits (three doubles and two triples). On Monday, Nikorak was tabbed as the Atlantic 10 Conference's Player of the Week, as he collected 18 total bases in 23 plate appearances, which he went 11-for-20 (.550). Entering today's game, the Owls' third baseman has reached base in all 14 games this season and is currently on a six-game hitting streak.

Leading the Explorers' offense as of late has been Marc Schoch. Through games against Radford and ETSU last week, he recorded a hit in every game including five extra-base hits.

Out of the bullpen, redshirt junior Steve Visnic has been the go-to arm for first-year head coach Ryan Wheeler. In his last three appearances, Visnic has not let let up a run through 8.0 innings of work, while allowing just four hits and a walk.

After today, Temple will have a brief respite between home stretches, as it will head to the Unviersity of Pennsylvania to take on the Quakers in another city-rival midweek game on Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. Penn will be making its 2012 home debut at Meiklejohn Stadium. From there, the Owls will make their way back to Skip Wilson Field for single games this weekend, beginning Friday against Saint Peter's, followed by NY Tech and Binghamton Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
