#17 Field Hockey Shut Out by #8 Connecticut in Final Regular Season Game

STORRS, Conn. - Despite earning eight penalty corner chances to #8 Connecticut's five, #17 Temple field hockey was shut out by the Huskies on Saturday afternoon by a score of 7-0. It was the final regular season game for both teams, who will both be competing in next week's BIG EAST Tournament, also at UConn.
Temple finished 4-3 in the conference and is 14-5 overall. The Owls will be the fourth seed. UConn, Louisville and Old Dominion all claimed a share of the BIG EAST title at 6-1. The Huskies took a 2-0 lead in the first seven minutes of the game and never looked back. Sarah Mansfield made three first-half saves for UConn and five total to preserve the shutout.
Marie Elena Bolles completed a hat trick with eight minutes left in the first half, and went on to finish with four goals for UConn. Chloe Hunnable scored twice and added an assist.
The Owls earned four corners in each half, but all five of their shots on goal were saved by Mansfield. In total, Temple took nine shots while UConn took 14.
