• This is the first season the teams will not compete in the same conference in 67 years. Temple and SJU were members of the Middle Atlantic Conference from 1946-47 until 1973-74 when both left to become members of the East Coast Conference. Following the 1981-82 season, both joined the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Owls became a full member of the American Athletic Conference on July 1, 2013.
• The Owls are coming off back-to-back wins at the Charleston Classic after snapping their first three-game losing streak since Dec. 22-29, 2008.
• Senior Dalton Pepper, an all-tourney selection, set new career highs in two straight games, scoring 22 points in the win over Georgia before tallying a career-high 24 points in the win over UAB.
• Will Cummings, who scored 22 points in the 72-58 first-round loss to Clemson, hit the game-winning three-pointer with 7 seconds left to lift TU to its second win of the season against Georgia.
• Quenton DeCosey and Cummings are the only two Temple players to score in double figures in all six games this season.
• Like Temple, SJU won its last two games - both in the Old Spice Classic - to finish fifth in the tournament that ended Sunday.
• The Hawks have won the last two in the series, both coming at Hagan Arena, after dropping 10 straight to the Owls.
• The Owls are just 9-6 against the Hawks at the Liacouras Center, but have won the last four meetings in the arena. The last SJU win in the building was on Jan. 26, 2008.
• Senior forward Ronald Roberts (18.5 ppg.)?and senior guard Langston Galloway (17.2 ppg.) give the Hawks a solid inside-outside combination.Â
