#11 Field Hockey Falls at Delaware, 2-0

9.13.13 | Field Hockey

NEWARK, Del. - The Temple field hockey team, playing its first game since entering the national rankings at #11, fell to a strong Delaware squad, 2-0, Friday evening at Rullo Stadium. The Owls fall to 3-2 on the season while the Blue Hens improve to 4-1.

It was a scoreless game until Delaware's Michaela Patzner backhanded a shot past Owls' goalie Lizzy Millen at the 23:54 mark of the first half. It was one of nine shots in the first half by the host Blue Hens while the Owls attempted five.

Heather Harman gave UD an insurance tally midway through the second half, pushing it past Millen off a rebound at the 51:21 mark. That accounted for all of the offense in the contest.

Millen, who has been stellar all season for the Owls, stopped nine of the 11 shots she faced on the evening, Sarah Scher made five saves in recording the win for the Blue Hens.

Temple returns home to host Monmouth Saturdat at 2:00 p.m. The game, which will be available on a live videostream, is part of the United States Field Hockey Association's National Field Hockey Day.
