Men's Basketball Set to Face UCF in American Athletic Athletic Conference Championship First Round

PHILADELPHIA - The eighth-seeded Temple men's basketball team will face ninth-seeded UCF in the first round of the American Athletic Conference Championships hosted by Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. The FedEx Forum in Memphis is the site of all the action, and the Owls will tip-off against the Knights at 9:30 p.m. (EST) on ESPN2 on Wednesday, March 12.
Temple (9-21) and UCF (12-17) finished with identical conference records of 4-14, but the Owls earned the tiebreaker by virtue of their win over third-seeded SMU. UCF and Temple had never faced each other prior to this season, but will now be meeting for the third time and for the second time in eight days after the Owls won 86-78 in overtime at home on March 4.
The Temple-UCF winner will move on to the quarterfinals to face top-seeded Cincinnati on Thursday, March 13 at 7:00 p.m. on ESPNU.
