#15 Field Hockey Set for Two Home Games This Weekend

PHILADELPHIA - Two home games are on the slate for #15 Temple field hockey this weekend, as the Owls host Kent State (2-5) on Saturday, Sept. 27 at noon and American (5-3) on Sunday, Sept. 28 at 2:00 p.m. Temple (5-3) begins BIG EAST play next week, and will use these back-to-back games as preparation.
Both games will be webcast for free through the above link, with live stats also available.
HEADLINES
• Temple is coming off a tough, 1-0 loss to Drexel in overtime, the Owls' only loss to an unranked team so far this season...The Owls are 5-3 overall and also notched a 2-1 win at Bucknell last weekend.
• The Owls' other two losses were to current #4 Maryland and current #5 Duke.
• Senior forward and All-American Amber Youtz scored both of Temple's goals in a 2-1 win at Bucknell this past Saturday.
• With six goals so far in 2014, Youtz has now scored 48 goals as an Owl to rank fifth all-time, needing three more to tie for fourth...Her 116 career points also rank fifth all-time, and she needs just one more to tie for fourth in that category.
• The Owls are ranked #15 in the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I National Coaches Poll for week three, released on Sept. 23...The Owls fell two spots from a week ago, but have now been ranked for three straight weeks after not being ranked in the preseason poll.
• The NCAA released its first RPI of the season on Sept. 23, and Temple's RPI is 13th in the nation.
• Kent State has started the season at 2-5 and has lost three one-goal games in a row, two of those being to Top 20 teams (Michigan and Michigan State)...The Owls lead the Golden Flashes 3-0 all-time, with the last meeting being a 4-3 overtime win at home in 2011.
• American has started the season at 5-3 overall and 1-0 in the Patriot League...The Eagles will play at Bucknell on Saturday before traveling to Temple on Sunday...Temple leads American 11-4 in the all-time series but the Owls have lost four in a row, most recently a 3-2 road game in 2011.
• Senior goalkeeper Lizzy Millen was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week for a second time this season on Sept. 15...Millen tied her career high with 17 saves at #3 Maryland, and denied both shots she faced in the first half against Delaware before exiting the game with a 5-0 lead.
• Millen currently ranks ninth in NCAA Division I with a saves percentage of .821..She leads the BIG EAST in saves and saves per game, while ranking second in goals against average.
• Five different players scored for Temple in a 5-1 win vs. Delaware on Sept. 12...Sophomore Katie Foran was the team leader in points with one goal and two assists.
• Junior forward Tricia Light recorded her first career hat trick with three goals in a 6-1 win at Rutgers on Sept. 5, and was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll.
• Temple was picked to finish third among the six BIG EAST teams in 2014.
