DAVIS, Calif. - UC Davis (1-0) broke a 2-2 tie with just 1:12 remaining, scoring the dagger on a penalty corner rebound and handing Temple field hockey a 3-2 loss in its 2018 season opener. The Owls (0-1) will stay in California for one more game, heading to Stockton to face Pacific on Sunday.

Game Summary
> Temple looked like the dominant team with a 2-0 lead halfway through the first period, but was unable to score again as the Aggies mounted a comeback.
> The Owls still held a 2-1 lead at halftime, but UC Davis tied it up in the ninth minute of the second half on a penalty stroke.
> The 2-2 tie stood for over 25 minutes. UC Davis was awarded a penalty corner with a minute and a half left, and Milou Korthouwer scored the game-winner off a rebounded shot and save.

> In the 20th minute, redshirt sophomore Sam Souder notched her first career point when she put Temple up 2-0 off a pass from freshman Nienke Oerlemans. The Owls' defense had stopped two shots before Temple drove to the other end and scored.
> Senior Chloe Johnson made five saves in goal, including one on a second penalty stroke opportunity for UC Davis.
> Sophomore Dani Batze, who ranked second in the BIG EAST in defensive saves last season, recorded her first defensive save of 2018.
