Men's Basketball Looks to End Skid Against #16 Wichita State

PHILADELPHIA – Temple men's basketball will look to end a three-game losing streak Wednesday (9 pm/ESPNU/1210 AM WPHT), but will have to knock off #16 Wichita State, the hottest team in the American Athletic Conference, to accomplish it. The Shockers (15-1, 3-0) have won nine straight and are the lone unbeaten team in the league while the Owls (9-6, 1-3) have dropped their last three games.
SCOUTING TEMPLE
> Temple, under the direction of first-year head coach Aaron McKie, sports a balanced attack with two players averaging double figures and another six averaging 5.0 points or more.
> Senior guard Quinton Rose leads the Cherry and White (eighth in the AAC) in scoring (14.4 ppg) and assists (3.8 apg./t-5th AAC) while ranking second in steals (1.8 spg). He moved onto the Temple Top 10 career steal list in his last game, tying McKie and Lynn Greer with 197.
> Junior guard Nate Pierre-Louis tops Temple (5th in AAC) in rebounding (8.8 rpg), steals (1.9 spg/7th AAC) while ranking second in scoring (10.6 ppg) and assists (3.1 apg).
> Senior Alani Moore II (8.9 ppg) has more than doubled his offensive output from last year (4.1 ppg) and is fourth in the AAC in threes per game (2.3).
> Rounding out the starting five are junior J.P. Moorman II (5.8 ppg), who ranks second on the team in rebounding (5.6 rpg), and sophomore Jake Forrester (7.9 ppg).
> Junior De'Vondre Perry (7.1 ppg), who ranks third in the AAC in three-point percentage (.432), redshirt junior Monty Scott (5.1 ppg) and freshman Josh Pierre-Louis (5.1 ppg) have provided the most impact from the Owls' deep bench.

> Gregg Marshall, in his 13th season with the Shockers, has led the team to a 15-1 record with the lone loss coming against West Virginia in the Cancun Challenge over Thanksgiving week.
> Four Shockers average in double digits, with Erik Stevenson leading the team (14.1).
> Freshman Tyson Etienne leads the league with 37 three-pointers made (4th with 43%), while Stevenson is fourth (35).

> > Temple and Wichita State are meeting for the eighth time, and fifth as conference opponents. Temple owns a 5-2 edge, but the Shockers have won two of the last three meetings.
> The teams first met as AAC rivals on Feb. 1, 2018, with the Owls upsetting the #16/16 Shockers 81-79 in OT at the Liacouras Center. Wichita State won the rematch at home, 93-86, on Feb 15.
