The Temple field hockey team completed an undefeated regular season at home with a 2-0 win against Lehigh on Senior Day on Sunday afternoon.

Our Turf
Temple was impressive at Howarth Field this season, going 9-0 at home. It was the first undefeated season on campus since the 1981 squad went 11-0-1. Included in the perfect home mark were wins against No. 18 Old Dominion and No. 20 Monmouth.
The Stars Will Shine
The Owls placed three players on All-BIG EAST teams as announced by the conference on Wednesday. Alizé Maes and Tess Muller were selected to the First Team and Devin Kinzel was selected to the Second Team. Maes was also named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year. It is the first time a Temple player won the award and is just the second time an Owl has earned a BIG EAST major award, joining Amber Youtz earning Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2014.Â
Consistent Excellence
With 11 victories this year, Temple reached double digit wins for a third consecutive season, the first time the team has achieved the feat since 2012-14.Â
Scouting Report
Old Dominion enters play 11-6 overall and went 5-2 in the BIG EAST. The Monarchs are coming off a 3-1 setback against No. 10 UConn in their final regular season game.Â
Leading the offense for ODU are Tess Jedeloo and Sian Emslie with 12 and 10 goals, respectively. One reason for their impressive scoring ability is being set up by Frederique Zandbergen, who leads all of NCAA Division I, recording 17 assists this season. As a team, the Monarchs are tied for fifth in the nation with 52 helpers.Â
Old Dominion generates a lot of chances on the corner as it leads the BIG EAST and is fifth nationally with 9.12 attacking penalty corners a game.Â
In cage, Suus Broers has started all 17 games and has a goals against average of 1.35, ranking third in the conference.Â
Andrew Griffiths is in his 12th season as the head coach of the Monarchs with a record of 131-85 in Norfolk. Earlier this season, he picked up his 200th career victory in 18 seasons overall as a Division I head coach.Â
Last Time Against ODU
Temple began a stretch of three consecutive victories against ranked opponents with a 1-0 overtime win against Old Dominion on September 27. Myrthe Schuilenberg scored the lone goal of the contest 3:57 into the extra session. It was the Owls first win against the Monarchs since 2016.
Finding The Back of the Cage
The Cherry and White scored 40 goals in the regular season, its second highest total since 2015, only topped by 48 tallies in 2022. Four different players have at least five goals and 12 players have scored overall.Â
Youth is Served
First year players have made a big impact on Temple thusfar this season. Minke Stoker started all 18 regular season games. Marsha Ariesen has played in 17 games with 16 starts and Reagan Stauts has emerged as a key contributor, appearing in 16 games.Â

BY THE NUMBERS
- Devin Kinzel and Alizé Maes each found the back of the cage for Temple.
- Mathéa Lassalle, Tess Muller and Kinzel all recorded an assist.
- Ashley Cogger made her first career start and earned the shutout win.
- TU got on the board in the waning seconds of the first half. Off a corner, Lassalle struck a shot towards cage that was redirected past the keeper by Kinzel.
- The Owls fended off a handful of chances from Lehigh in the third turning aside three penalty corners without allowing a clean shot on goal.
- Temple sealed the victory in the fourth on an APC with Muller inserting the ball to Kinzel who trapped it for Maes who rocketed it past the goalie.
