Last Time Out - White and Riley Each Top 20 Points at Tulane
Jahlil White and Jordan Riley each eclipsed the 20-point mark, but the Owls were upended in overtime for a second consecutive contest, 92-80 at the Tulane Green Wave on Sunday afternoon.

BY THE NUMBERS
  • White had one of his best games with 21 points and 15 rebounds. It was his fourth double-double of the season and the eighth of his career. He also added four assists and three steals.
  • Riley scored a career-high 23 in the contest with six boards.
  • It is the first time two players scored 20+ points in the same game for the Owls since January 18, 2023 against East Carolina.
  • Steve Settle III posted 12 in the contest, 10 coming after halftime.
  • Sam Hofman netted nine and posted his fifth game this season with three or more treys.
  • Hysier Miller scored 12 with four rebounds.

Lucky Number 13
No, the Owls haven't leaned that hard into the Swifties bandwagon, but after scoring 12 points at Tulane on Sunday, Steve Settle III is just 13 points away from the 1,000 mark in his career.

Chairman Of The Board(s)
Jahlil White has had some impressive games rebounding the basketball this season, but none moreso than Sunday at Tulane when he pulled in 15 caroms. It was his fourth game this year and the 11th time in his career with double-digit rebounds. His career-high is 16 against Cincinnati last year.

Double Trouble
With the 21 points and 15 rebounds for Jahlil White at Tulane, Temple as a team recorded its sixth double-double of the season in its 22nd game. The Owls only recorded six such games in 2022-23 and just nine in the last two years combined. This season, White has four with Jordan Riley and Steve Settle III posting one each.

What's Five More Minutes?
With the 17-8 closing run to tie the game at 76-76, Temple forged its second consecutive overtime game at Tulane on Sunday. It is the first instance of back-to-back OT contests since January 25 and 28, 2023 when the Owls played five extra minutes each against USF and at UCF.

A Little More OT Info
Sunday was just the fifth time in the 128-year history of Temple men's basketball that the Owls played consecutive overtime games. The five overtime periods TU has played this season is tied for the third most in a year, only trailing seven in 1996-97 (six overtime games).

Scouting Report
Memphis enters play 16-6 overall and 5-4 in the conference following a 65-63 win against Wichita State on Saturday. The victory snapped a four-game skid for the Tigers, who, prior to the stretch, had been ranked as high as No. 10 in the AP poll. The Tigers were selected second in the AAC preseason and had four preseason All-Conference honorees.

Leading the offense for Memphis is David Jones who leads the AAC at 21.8 points per game. Also scoring in double figures are Jahvon Quinerly and Nae'Qwan Tomlin at 13.1 and 10.4 per night, respectively. Jones also tops the team at 6.8 rebounds a contest. Quinerly is fourth in the conference with 107 assists.

While three players sit in double figures for the Tigers, the offense runs deep in the rotation as seven members of the team average 6.3 points per game or higher, helping Memphis to rank in the top-50 in scoring offense nationally at 80.2 points per game. A large part of that is their ability to get to the line, sitting in the top-35 in NCAA Division I in both free throws made and attempted an outing. The Tigers also do a good job of rim protecting and making opponents cough up the ball as they are second in the AAC in both blocks per game (5.0) and turnovers forced (13.77).

Holding on to the ball has been an issue for Memphis, which ranks 300th nationally in turnovers a contest at 13.6. It has also sent its opponents to the line a lot, committing 17.8 fouls and giving up 19.1 free throw attempts a night.

Four-time NBA All-Star and Memphis alumnus Penny Hardaway is in his sixth season as the head coach of the Tigers with a record of 123-58 at his alma mater. He has guided the team to 20 or more wins in each of his first five seasons, made two NCAA Tournament appearances and mentored the team to the 2021 NIT Championship.

All-Time Series
Thursday is the 16th all-time meeting between the Tigers and the Owls. Wins have been hard to find in the series for Temple as Memphis holds a 14-1 advantage.

Last Time Against Memphis
Hysier Miller had one of his best games of the season with 15 points on 7-of-11 shooting, six rebounds and five assists, but TU was downed 86-77 at FedEx Forum on February 12, 2023.

Up Next
The Owls remain at home on Sunday, February 11 when they host the Charlotte 49ers, a surprise leader in the AAC standings. Temple will honor the 1998-99 Elite Eight team at halftime. Tipoff from the Liacouras Center is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
