Kinzel Scores Her Third of the Season for the Owls
9.13.24 | Field Hockey
PHILADELPHIA – Devin Kinzel scored her third goal of the season for the Temple field hockey team, but the Owls were upended 3-1 by the Penn Quakers on Friday afternoon.
Down a pair of goals heading into the fourth, Kinzel brought the Owls closer. Coming off a penalty corner, the senior picked up a rebound off her own shot and found the back of the cage for the third time this season.
The two squads were scoreless through nearly the entire first quarter before Penn posted the opening tally of the game with 31 seconds remaining in the frame. Despite offensive pressure from Temple, outshooting the Quakers 6-1 in the second period, Penn held the 1-0 lead into halftime.
Another nearly scoreless quarter came along in the third, but Penn tallied with 1:12 left to go up 2-0. After Kinzel scored, the Quakers added one more tally three minutes later to seal the final.
Temple returns to action on Friday, September 20 when it travels to Storrs, Conn., opening conference play at UConn. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m.
