Field Hockey Opens BIG EAST Play on Friday

PHILADELPHIA – The Temple field hockey team has a pair of games this weekend, getting conference play started on Friday at No. 14 UConn before hosting local rival La Salle on Sunday.

The first 100 fans at the game get a free soft pretzel. There will be Philly themed video tributes and events throughout the contest.
 
Scouting Temple
  • After five games in a row on the road, the Owls return to Howarth Field where they are 1-0 this season, downing Queens (NC) 7-0 in their opener.
  • Halle Aschenbach and Devin Kinzel lead Temple with three goals apiece.
  • Tess Muller has six points on two goals and two assists.
  • Nine different members of the Cherry and White have found the back of the cage in 2024.

  • The Huskies started the season 5-0 before falling 3-2 to Harvard in their last contest.

Friday is the 22nd meeting between the Owls and the Huskies. Temple has won three in a row against UConn including last year's 1-0 victory on September 15.
 
Scouting La Salle
  • The Explorers are 5-1 this season, most recently falling to Villanova on Sunday. La Salle takes on Lock Haven on Friday.
  • Zhao Rodrigo leads the Explorers with six points on the strength of two goals and a pair of assists.
  • Defense has led the way for La Salle, allowing six goals in six games. Abby Boggs has a 0.98 goals against average.
  • Michael Warari is in his first season as the head coach for the Explorers.
