Owls Set to Face LIU in Second Dual Meet of Season

BROOKLYN, NY – The Owls will be on the road, facing Long Island University in their second dual meet of the spring season. This will also be their third meet of the season.
VAULT
At Lone Star Challenge, Temple consistently improved their vault scores, with Amelia Budd, Nikki Rengifo, and Harmony Haro each posting a team-high score of 9.750.
During the dual meet against WVU, Kyrstin Johnson delivered a solid 9.725, setting the tone with strong execution and consistency. Renee Schugman led the vault performance with a 9.775, and Budd added 9.675, boosting the team's total score.
BARS
Sarah Stallings led Temple with a solid 9.700 at the Lone Star Challenge in her first event of the season. Reese DeHaan and Hannah Weklar each contributed strong scores of 9.650, while Breanna Varano followed with a 9.525.
Madison Dorunda and Mariella Brueck rounded out the lineup, scoring 8.625 and 8.425, respectively.
BEAM
Brooke Donabedian matched her score from the week prior on the balance beam, finishing with a 9.700, which marked the top score for the Owls on the apparatus. Schugman and Dorunda also performed strongly, each earning a 9.675.
Johnson scored 9.575, while Summer Ruskey, making her first appearance on beam this season, finished with a 9.025.
FLOOR
The Cherry and White shined on the floor in the Lone Star Challenge, with two Owls finishing within the top 10 on the apparatus. Johnson and Ruskey each scored 9.850, marking season-highs for both gymnasts. Their 9.850's were good enough to rank them tied for sixth overall in the meet.
Dorunda and Schugman recorded scores of 9.750, with Dorunda setting a season-high. Weklar and Donabedian rounded out the group, scoring 9.725 and 9.075, respectively.
SCOUTING LIU
LIU Gymnastics ushers in a new era with Taylor Colwell as head coach. A former Lindenwood standout and national champion, Colwell brings a wealth of experience and success from her coaching roles at Central Michigan, SEMO, and Lindenwood.
Junior Syd Morris continues to make history for LIU, earning a spot at the 2024 NCAA Regionals in Gainesville, Fla., after claiming the program's first-ever EAGL All-Around Championship. The Landenberg, Pa., native has shined since her first year, earning EAGL Rookie of the Year honors and multiple All-EAGL team selections.
