Owls look to end seven-game skid against Bryant tomorrow afternoon

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth struck for four goals in the first half sparking a 5-2 victory over the Owls Saturday afternoon at So Sweet A Cat Field. Temple suffered its seventh straight defeat to fall to 4-7 while Monmouth improved to 8-1 on the season.
The Cherry and White fell behind early as Morganne Firmstone scored on a rebound 34 seconds into the contest to give Monmouth the 1-0 advantage. Five minutes later Alex Carroll found the back of the net off of a penalty corner to give the Hawks a two goal lead. Monmouth would add two more goals in an 11 minute span to give the Hawks a 4-0 lead at halftime.
In the second half Kaylee Keener scored her first goal of the season followed by Bridget Settles' team-leading ninth goal of the year. However it would not be enough offense for the Owls as Kimmy Baligian added the Hawks' fifth goal of the game in the second half.
Monmouth outshot Temple 8-1 in the first half while the Owls earned a 7-6 shot advantage in the second half.
Temple goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple made seven saves in the contest.
The Cherry and White return to action tomorrow afternoon at 2:00 pm against Bryant at Geasey Field.
