Owls improve to 3-4 overall; will play at Drexel on Sunday

Box Score

NEWARK, Del. - Senior Bridget Settles broke a one-all tie when she scored with three minutes remaining to give Temple field hockey a 2-1 win against the Delaware Blue Hens at Rullo Stadium on Friday evening. The Owls improve to 3-4 overall and will play at Drexel on Sunday, Sept. 18 at 1:00 p.m.

Senior Carissa Young opened the scoring for Temple in the 25th minute, scoring on a penalty corner with an assist from Settles. The 1-0 lead stood through halftime until Delaware's Tory Sharpless scored just three minutes into the second half.

Both sides played strong defense down the stretch and the game looked to be headed to overtime when Settles tipped in a pass from Mandi Shearer with three minutes remaining to break the tie.

Lizzy Millen made six saves for the Owls in goal while Delaware's Noelle Diana made four.
