Field Hockey Travels to #10 Penn State on Thursday Night

Owls return home Sunday afternoon vs. Monmouth
PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team (3-5) will face a tough test on the road Thursday night at No. 10 Penn State (5-3) at 6:00 p.m. This will be the 38th matchup between the Nittany Lions and the Owls. The game can be followed on Gametracker via a link on GoPSUSports.com.
The Owls enter Thursday's game with a 3-5 record, coming off a 2-1 loss to Drexel this past Sunday. Temple's three wins came over Bucknell (4-0), Lafayette (4-3) and Delaware (2-1). The Owls also took No. 9 Michigan to overtime before falling, 3-2.
Leading the way for Temple is senior Bridget Settles, who has a team-best 22 points this season and is the reigning Atlantic 10 Player of the Week for a second striaght week. Settles has scored 10 goals and ranks in a tie for seventh in NCAA Division I with 1.25 goals per game. Sophomore Lizzy Millen is Temple's starting goalkeeper, and through eight games this season she has allowed an average of 2.72 goals per game to go along with 37 saves. She has recorded one shutout, which came against Bucknell.
The Nittany Lions are coming off a pair of victories this past weekend, including a 2-1 win over No. 6 Duke and a 6-1 win over VCU. Redshirt junior Ayla Halus is the team's starting goalkeeper, and following two strong two games in the cage for the Nittany Lions this past weekend, she was named Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week.
The Nittany Lions hold a 29-6-2 lead in the all-time series between the two teams. The last time these two teams met was on Sept. 18, 2010 at Temple. Penn State earned a 4-0 win, which was also head coach Charlene Morett's 400th victory. The last time Temple defeated Penn State came on Oct. 11, 1983 in a 4-1 Owl victory.
