Owls fall 4-0 to the Bears at Geasey Field

PHILADELPHIA - The Temple field hockey team found no answer for the 11th-ranked Cal Bears on Friday afternoon at Geasey Field, as Cal shut out the Owls by a score of 4-0. The Bears (10-2) got two goals from Jordan O'Reilly.
Temple (3-8) had chances, with eight total shots to Cal's 13, but the Bears' two goalkeepers combined for four saves to preserve the shutout. Lizzy Millen made five saves for the Owls.
Lara Kruggel got Cal on the board 10 minutes into the game on an assist from O'Reilly, who scored her team's second and third goals before halftime. Megan Shimojima added a fourth goal halfway through the second half on an assist from Kruggel.
Bridget Settles, who leads the Owls this season with 10 goals, registered three of Temple's eight shots in the game.
The Owls will be back in action on Sunday, Oct. 2 in a 1:00 p.m. game at American.
