TEMPLE NOTES...
Temple is 8-6 overall heading into the weekend. The Owls bring a two-game winning streak into this week's action, including a win in their Atlantic 10 opener against VCU last Friday. Temple has won six of its last seven, and recently had a four-game win streak snapped by two-time defending national champ, #4 Maryland.

In the A-10 opener, Amber Youtz scored less than six minutes into the game, and the 1-0 lead held for over 60 minutes. The Rams tied the game with four minutes remaining, but Temple's Lauren Hunt scored the game-winner on an assist from Katie Briglia with less than two minutes to go.

Two days later, Temple had five different players score in a 5-1 win over Radford. Briglia scored what would prove to be the game-winner just 13 seconds into the contest, and by halftime the Owls led 4-1.

Youtz leads Temple with 15 goals and seven assists for 37 total points this season. In back-to-back wins over Colgate and Bucknell, Youtz recorded a hat trick in each and became the first player to achieve that feat since Temple Athletics Hall-of-Famer Jane Catanzaro in 1990.

Freshman Alyssa Delp has been impressive all season, and ranks second on the team with eight goals. Sophomore Nicole Kroener has six goals along with five assists, while Hunt has six goals to go with four assists. Goalkeeper Lizzy Millen has started every game for the Owls, and made a career-high 12 saves against Penn State. She had nine saves in a win over Drexel, and also recorded nine saves in the loss at Maryland.

OFFENSIVE EXPLOSION...
With 43 goals so far this season, Temple has already surpassed its 2011 scoring total by six goals. The Owls lead all teams in the Atlantic 10 with 3.07 goals per game, and they are also tops in total assists with 29. Along with Youtz leading the A-10 in goals and points, Delp ranks third in total goals (8) and Briglia is currently tied for first in total assists (8). Delp's three game-winning goals put her in a tie for first among all A-10 players.

SOPHOMORE SENSATION...
Youtz currently ranks sixth among all players in NCAA Division I in goals per game (1.07) and seventh in points per game (2.64). Youtz is having a breakout season, already earning one Atlantic 10 Player of the Week award after recording back-to-back hat tricks in two wins for the Owls. With 37 points heading into the weekend, Youtz is just two points away from tying for 10th all-time in a single season in program history. She leads the A-10 in both goals and points, and ranks third in assists  with seven.

SCOUTING LA SALLE...
La Salle is 6-7 overall but has won three straight, including its A-10 opener at Lock Haven by a score of 1-0. The Explorers are 3-2 at home, with both losses coming by a single goal. Junior Olivia Shoemaker leads La Salle with five goals for 10 points, and three other players currently have nine total points.

SCOUTING LOCK HAVEN...
Lock Haven is 9-5 entering the weekend, and will play at Saint Joseph's on Friday before facing Temple on Sunday. The Bald Eagles are 0-1 in the Atlantic 10 after a 1-0 loss to La Salle on Oct. 6. Freshman Stephanie Ebersole leads the team in scoring with five goals, while sophomore Nakira Downes is the points leader with three goals and eight assists. Junior Kelly Harsh is close behind with four goals and three assists.

ALL-TIME SERIES RECORDS...
Temple is 29-4-1 all-time against La Salle, and won last year's match-up 2-1 in overtime. The series against Lock Haven is tied at 3-3-1, and it was the Bald Eagles who came away with the win a year ago by a score of 2-1.

COMING UP...
On Friday, Oct. 19 at 3:00 p.m. the Owls will host Saint Louis in their Play 4 the Cure game. The Play 4 the Cure movement was created by Mystx Field Hockey Club founder, director, and head coach Tina Reinprecht. Tina's longtime desire was to create an indoor field hockey benefit tournament for breast cancer research. A tournament home was found for the event at the SportsPlex in Feastervile, PA in 2006. The benefit was dedicated to mothers of players in the Mystx FH Club who fought the fight against breast cancer. The Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research and awareness is the beneficiary of our event and in two short years they have contributed over $11,000.00 towards the Philadelphia Affiliate of the SGK for the Cure.
