Amber Youtz's Second Hat Trick in Two Days Leads Field Hockey to Come-From-Behind, 5-4 Win at Bucknell

9.23.12 | Field Hockey

LEWISBURG, Pa. - Sophomore Amber Youtz wasted no time getting the second hat trick of her career, doing so for the second consecutive day in leading Temple field hockey to a 5-4 come-from-behind win at Bucknell on Sunday afternoon.

The Owls (5-5) trailed 3-1 in the game, and later 4-3 before Youtz's third goal became the equalizer in the 52nd minute. She later fed freshman Alyssa Delp for the game-winner with just over five minutes left in regulation.

It was the third straight win for the Owls, who have now scored 17 goals in their last three games. They improve to 5-5 overall, while Bucknell also now stands at 5-5.

Youtz deflected a shot by Lauren Hunt on a penalty corner for the first goal of the game in the sixth minute, but Bucknell went on to take a 2-1 lead in the first half before increasing that lead to 3-1 in the second. Three different players scored for the Bison, the first just one minute after Temple's goal and the last in the 44th minute as Temple remained scoreless over that stretch.

Less than two minutes after Bucknell's third goal, Nicole Kroener took a penalty stroke for Temple and converted it to bring the Owls within one. Not even 30 seconds following that goal, Youtz spun in from the left side and scored unassisted to tie the game.

The tie stood for five minutes before Bucknell's Tayler Siegrist scored on a direct corner for a 4-3 Bison lead. With 19:16 remaining in the game, Temple pulled goalkeeper Lizzy Millen for an extra attacker, and the move paid off quickly.

Youtz once again notched a tying goal with a shot that had been batted around in front of the net, and Millen was put back into the cage for the Owls after that goal in the 52nd minute. The tie stood until less than six minutes remained when Youtz passed to Delp who knocked in the game-winner near the post.

The Owls will be back in action next Friday, Sept. 28 when they travel to Longwood for a 7:00 p.m. game.
