PHILADELPHIA - Prior to the start of #17 Temple field hockey's final home game on Friday, Oct. 25 at 3:00 p.m. vs. Georgetown, the Owls will honor three seniors that have all been four-year veterans of the program. Molly Doyle, Lauren Hunt and Mandi Shearer will be escorted by their families during a special presentation in their honor.

Temple (12-4, 3-2 BIG EAST) is looking to hold on to its spot in the upcoming BIG EAST Tournament, set for Nov. 8 and 10 at the University of Connecticut. The Owls are currently in fourth place in the conference, and four teams will advance. Georgetown, at 2-13 overall and 0-5 in the league, has been eliminated from contention. 

The Owls will play a second game this weekend on Sunday, traveling to Lafayette for a non-conference contest at 2:00 p.m. The Leopards are 5-9 overall and will play Colgate on Saturday. Live stats for Temple's game at Lafayette can be found HERE.

BIG EAST WELL-REPRESENTED IN THE NATIONAL POLL
The three teams who hold the top three spots in the BIG EAST are all ranked in the Top 20 as well. UConn is ranked fourth, Louisville is ranked 14th, and after a big upset win over top-ranked Maryland this past weekend, Old Dominion has jumped up to #10. After Friday's game against Georgetown, Temple will have one conference game remaining. The Owls will travel to UConn on Nov. 2, hoping to return six days later for the BIG EAST Semifinals.

TEMPLE IN THE NCAA STATS
With 13 goals this season along with five assists, junior Amber Youtz ranks fourth in NCAA Division I and first in the conference in points per game at 2.58. Her 1.08 goals per game are seventh in the nation, and also tops in the BIG EAST. Redshirt junior goalkeeper Lizzy Millen ranks third in the nation with a saves percentage of .827, and is seventh in goals against average at 1.17. As a team, Temple ranks second among all teams with a saves percentage of .833.

SENIOR HONOREES
#23, Molly Doyle, is a team co-captain and a four-year veteran for the Owls. Molly is having an outstanding senior season, helping lead the Temple defense to five shutouts this season while also ranking as the team's second-leading scorer with eight goals. She scored twice to lead the Owls to their biggest win of the season, a 3-0 shutout at #6 Penn State, and she recently recorded her first career hat trick to lead the Owls to a 3-1 win over Bucknell. Molly was named the BIG EAST Player of the Week on September 9. Today, Molly will be playing in her 80th game for Temple, and starting in her 66th game. Off the field, Molly has twice been named to Temple's President's Honor Roll for having a GPA above 3.5. A history major from Havertown, Pa., Molly will be escorted by her parents, Bernie and Leo, her grandparents, Joan and Leo, Sr., along with her brother Leo and sisters Therese and Nellie.

#29 Lauren Hunt has quietly been one of the team's most valuable players over the last two seasons, and she is a four-year veteran for the Owls. As a junior, Lauren tied for second on the team with nine goals, and finished with 23 total points to rank fourth on the team. This season, Lauren has scored four goals and added four assists for 12 total points so far, and recently scored twice in a 3-0 win against Sacred Heart. Lauren has started in every game since the beginning of her junior year, and is playing in her 80th game for Temple today. Off the field, Lauren has been named to Temple's Director's Honor Roll every year for having a GPA above 3.0. A communications major from Mechanicsburg, Pa., Lauren will be escorted by her parents, Leslie and Jeff, and her grandparents, Judy and Richard.

#8 Mandi Shearer is a team co-captain and another four-year veteran for the Owls. Mandi has the rare distinction of having played in every single Temple game in her career so far. She will be playing in her 81st game today, and has started in 68 of those. Mandi is second on the team this season with eight assists, bringing her career assist total to 20, and she helps anchor a defensive unit that has recorded five shutouts this season. As a freshman, Mandi was named to the Atlantic 10 All-Rookie Team. Off the field, Mandi was named to the Temple Director's Honor Roll as a junior for having a GPA above 3.0. A kinesiology major from Bainbridge, Pa., Mandi will be escorted by her parents, Sabine and John, her brother, Andrew, and her sister, Tanya.
