#15 Field Hockey Celebrates 100 Years and Alumni Day on Sunday at Noon

PHILADELPHIA - The 15th-ranked Temple field hockey team has a lot to celebrate on Sunday, Oct. 12 when the Owls host the La Salle Explorers at noon. Temple is welcoming back alums of the program for Alumni Day as part of Homecoming Weekend, and the Owls are also celebrating 100 Years of Temple Field Hockey.
An archived photo from 1914 labeled "First Temple Field Hockey Team," has the Owls' 2014 season being the 100th year of the program. Alumns and some fans in attendance will receive t-shirts to commemorate the milestone.
Temple is also welcoming back over 25 alums to Sunday's game, and all will be introduced at halftime. The confirmed attendees range in playing years from the early 80's to last season.
The Owls are 9-4 heading into Sunday's game, and are coming off a 6-3 BIG EAST win against Villanova at home on Friday. La Salle, formerly a conference rival of Temple's when the Owls were in the Atlantic 10, is 6-5 overall. The Explorers are coming off a 1-0 loss at Saint Francis (PA) on Friday. Temple leads the all-time series 30-4-1 against La Salle. The two teams did not meet in 2013, but Temple earned a 2-1
win at La Salle in 2012.
