PHILADELPHIA
- Despite a promising start, the offense eventually went cold for Temple men's basketball in a 68-55 loss to #21/21 UConn on Thursday night. The Huskies (21-5, 9-4) had their struggles in the second half as well, but Temple (7-18, 2-11) could make up no ground.

Quenton DeCosey scored a team-best 16 points and led the Owls with a career-high eight rebounds. He was the only Temple player to score over a 13-minute stretch of the second half, getting 11 of his points in that span.

Temple came within five of the Huskies at 15:37 of the second half, but would get no closer. Not many shots fell for either team down the stretch, as UConn hit 40 percent of its shots in the second half compared to 48 percent shooting in the first, and Temple shot 34 percent for the game.

From the three-minute mark to the two-minute mark, the Owls outscored the Huskies 7-1, but the run was too late. UConn hit 9-of-10 at the line in the final 1:44 to quell any comeback hopes for Temple.

Shabazz Napier scored a game-high 17 points to lead four players who finished in double figures for UConn. His line was impressive as he also finished with a game-high 12 rebounds and a game-high seven assists. Napier hit 11-of-11 from the free throw line.

There were shooting woes in the opening minutes for the Owls, but Temple still got out to a lead and extended it when the shots started to fall. The Owls started 2-of-9 but then hit four of their next five, and used an 8-2 run to lead by seven, 15-8 at 12:06.

Temple held UConn without a field goal for over three minutes, and still led 18-12 at the midway point of the half before the Huskies started to rally.

UConn scored 11 straight points to take the lead, and would hold it the rest of the way.

After trading buckets for a stretch, the Huskies used a 6-0 run to get their largest lead of nine, 33-24 with 1:41 left in the first half. The Owls scored the only point the rest of the way on a free throw from Cummings, and UConn led 33-25 at halftime.

Three other players finished in double figures in scoring for Temple. Dalton Pepper scored 11 points and grabbed seven boards, while Anthony Lee and Mark Williams added 10 points apiece.

The Owls continue their longest stretch of games (5) against nationally-ranked opponents in program history on Saturday when the team travels to #22/24 Memphis for a 9:30 ET tip on ESPNU.
