10.26.17 | Field Hockey

PHILADELPHIA - Temple field hockey returns home for its final two games of the season, and will first host BIG EAST foe Liberty in a "Pride" game on Friday, Oct. 27 at 5 p.m. On Sunday, the Owls will honor their senior class in a Senior Day ceremony prior to facing Lafayette at 2 p.m.

Promotions
> The Owls are celebrating PRIDE at Friday's game in support of LGBT friends and family on campus and beyond. The players will wear wristbands and rainbow shoelaces to show support.
> Student tickets to the Temple vs. Navy football game on Thursday, Nov. 2 will be given out to students in attendance (must have student ID), while supplies last.

Scouting Temple
> The Owls come into the weekend at 4-12 overall and 0-6 in BIG EAST play. It has been a tough stretch for Temple with four straight losses. The most recent two at Quinnipiac and Fairfield came by just a 1-0 margin, with the Fairfield contest going to overtime.
> Sophomore goalkeeper Maddie Lilliock made a combined 19 saves last weekend and tied her career high with 11 saves at Quinnipiac. She was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her efforts. Also earning honor roll mention earlier this season were Keer, Mueller and sophomore Kathryn Edgar.
> Mueller leads Temple with six goals and 16 total points. Her six season goals including two game-winning goals. Edgar has a team-best five assists and ranks second with nine total points. Keer and sophomore Maddie Merton have scored three goals apiece.
> Three of Temple's losses have come against nationally ranked teams, while another loss was to Saint Joseph's, now also ranked in the Top 25.
> With 11 defensive saves, the Owls rank second among all teams in NCAA Division I. Freshman Dani Batze leads the way with three defensive saves. On her heels are junior Nellie Doyle and Kucera with two defensive saves each, while Edgar, redshirt junior Maris Stern and sophomore Becky Gerhart have one apiece.
> Mueller has been selected to play in the Victory Sport Tours/NFHCA Senior Game on Nov. 17. She is one of 38 seniors from Division I to earn the honor.
> Freshman Taylor Alba recorded both her first career goal and first career assist in the Owls' loss at Georgetown on Sept. 29, and added a second assist on Mueller's game-tying goal vs. UC Davis.

Scouting Liberty
> The Flames are 6-9 overall but 4-2 in the BIG EAST to sit in a three-way tie for second place. With wins over the other two teams already, Providence and Old Dominion, Liberty has already clinched a BIG EAST Tournament berth.
> Liberty has faced seven teams ranked in the Top 25. While the Flames lost to all seven, they were edged just 4-3 in OT vs. #2 Duke, 3-2 by #6 and defending NCAA champion Delaware, and 4-3 at #13 Wake Forest.
> Sophomore Agueda Moroni, a 2016 BIG EAST First Team honoree as a freshman, leads Liberty and is tied for second in the league with 14 goals. She's also tied for the team lead with five assists.
> Sophomore Allison Schaefer, the 2016 BIG EAST Freshman of the Year, has played every minute in goal for the Flames and ranks third in the BIG EAST with a 2.04 goals allowed average.

Series History
> Liberty holds a 2-1 lead over Temple in the all-time series. The Flames won 7-0 in 2016 after edging the Owls 3-2 in overtime in 2015. Temple's win came in the first meeting in 2011 by a score of 3-0 at home.
