Field Hockey Heads to BIG EAST Foe Georgetown on Friday

PHILADELPHIA - In a one-game week, Temple field hockey will head to Washington, D.C., to face Georgetown at 2 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 29. The Owls (3-6, 0-2) and the Hoyas (5-5, 0-2) are both looking for their first win in BIG EAST Conference play.
Scouting the Owls
> Temple is coming off a thrilling, 3-2 come-from-behind overtime win vs. Sacred Heart on Sept. 24. Temple trailed 1-0 at halftime and 2-0 in the second half before coming back to tie in regulation. In overtime, sophomore Kathryn Edgar recorded her third assist in as many goals, feeding senior Rachael Mueller for the game-winner.
> Edgar was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll for her three-assist effort. Last week, Mueller earned the same honor after scoring twice in the Owls' 3-1 win at Holy Cross.
>Â Temple started the season with four losses, including two against Top 15 teams and another to Saint Joseph's, now ranked in the Top 25.Â
>Â Mueller leads the Owls with five goals and four assists for 14 total points. Edgar and redshirt senior Sarah Keer have scored two goals each, while Edgar and Mueller lead the team with four assists apiece.
> With nine defensive saves, the Owls rank second among all teams in NCAA Division I. Junior Nellie Doyle, redshirt junior Ashley Kucera and freshman Dani Batze lead the way with two defensive saves each, while Edgar, redshirt junior Maris Stern and sophomore Becky Gerhart have one apiece.
> Junior Chloe Johnson has been the goalkeeper of record in the Owls' last three games, going 2-1. She started for the first time in her career at Holy Cross and made a career-high eight saves. She made seven more vs. #1 UConn, and made three without allowing a single goal in 30 minutes of action vs. Sacred Heart.
Scouting the Hoyas
> Georgetown is 5-5 so far but, like the Owls, is looking for its first BIG EAST win after going 0-2 with losses vs. Quinnipiac and at Old Dominion. Most recently, Georgetown lost 4-1 at Longwood on Sept. 24.
> Freshman forward Cami Osborne leads Georgetown with six goals, while a trio of players have registered four assists.
> Georgetown has scored in all but one game, and averages 2.60 goals per game.
> Last year, the Hoyas finished 5-13 overall and did not win a BIG EAST game, going 0-7.

> Temple leads Georgetown 8-2 all-time, and has won seven straight against the Hoyas dating back to 2002.
> Last year, the Owls won 4-1 at home. The last time the teams played in Washington, D.C., Temple earned a shutout, 4-0 victory against Georgetown in 2014.
