Field Hockey Edged 3-2 by Georgetown

WASHINGTON, D.C. - It was a close one in the nation's capital, but Temple field hockey came up short on Friday afternoon in a 3-2 loss to BIG EAST foe Georgetown (6-5, 1-2). The Owls (3-7, 0-3) led 1-0 early in the game, but did not score again until close to the final minute.
Keys to the Game
> Temple had a couple good looks early in the game, and got on the board first when freshman Taylor Alba got an assist from fellow freshman Mia Sexton for a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute.
> In the 21st minute, Georgetown's Helena Masiello tied the game on a rebound.
> After the Owls thwarted a pair of penalty corners by the Hoyas, the third one resulted in a goal for Georgetown with seven minutes left in the half.
> The Hoyas' 2-1 lead stood until just 15 minutes remained in the game when they took advantage of a man-up situation and made it a 3-1 advantage.
> Junior Jessika Daniels gave the Owls hope with a goal near the final minute to bring them within one, but Temple was unable to come up with another shot in the remaining time.

> Sophomore Maddie Lilliock made seven saves for Temple in the first half, while junior Chloe Johnson notched two second-half saves.
> Georgetown finished the contest with 14 shots compared to 10 for the Owls.
> Alba scored the first goal of her career and also recorded her first career assist on Temple's second goal.
> Sexton notched the first assist of her career and now has three total points after scoring a goal vs. #1 UConn.
