No. 20 Field Hockey Hosts Providence on Friday

PHILADELPHIA – The No. 20 Temple field hockey team looks to continue its winning ways, hosting the Providence Friars on Friday, October 11. Game time is scheduled for 2:00 p.m.
 
SCOUTING TEMPLE
  • Temple moved into the Penn Monto/NFHCA Division I Coaches Poll for the first time this season, slotting in at No. 20. The last time The Cherry and White entered the national rankings was the poll on September 19, 2023 when it was 19th.
  • The Owls have won five games in a row, downing No. 18 Liberty 5-1 on Friday and then taking down Wagner 2-1 in double overtime on Sunday. The win against the Flames was the first for the Cherry and White against them since 2011.
  • Alize Maes and Isabella Ospitale were named BIG EAST Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week, respectively. Maes scored three times last week, including both game winners. Ospitale made 12 saves in the two games and had a 0.88 goals against average for the week.
  • Temple has displayed a balanced offense with four players each registering at least four goals and 10 points.
  • Devin Kinzel tops TU with six tallies on the season.
 
SCOUTING PROVIDENCE
  • The Friars are 5-7 overall with a 1-2 record in the BIG EAST. They defeated Quinnipiac in their conference opener before dropping matches against Liberty and at Old Dominion.
  • Ally DeCoste leads Providence with five goals on the season. She is tied for the team lead in points with Bo Martina, each registering 11.
  • Martina has reached her point total with three goals and five assists.
  • Macie Pennisi also has been an offensive factor for the Friars with four goals.
  • Asia Porter has played all but 15 minutes in goal this season with a 3.10 goals against average and a .554 save percentage.
  • Diane Madi is in her 23rd season as the head coach of the Friars, recently winning her 200th career game.
 
ALL-TIME SERIES
Friday is the 15th meeting all-time between Temple and Providence. The teams are 7-7 against each other.
 
UP NEXT
The Owls do not have a Sunday game and are in action next at home on Friday, October 18, hosting Georgetown in a BIG EAST matchup. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
