The Owls are unable to find the back of the net in 3-0 loss

NEWARK, Del. – Junior goalkeeper Sarah Dalrymple made four saves, but it was not enough for the Owls (3-4) as they fell to the Blue Hens (4-2) by a score of 3-0 on Friday night.
Despite registering three more penalty corners then the Blue Hens (8-5), and finishing with only one less shot (8-9), the Owls were unable to find the back of the net during the contest. Senior Mandi Ruth led the Owls with three shots while classmate Kristen Wanner and sophomore Kaylee Keener both registered shots on goal.
Delaware wasted little time getting on the scoreboard when Missy Woodie capitalized on a penalty corner a little over two minutes into the contest. The score remained 1-0 through halftime but it took even lees time for the Blue Hens to find the back of the cage in the second as Amanda McCardell scored an unassisted goal a mere 14 seconds into the half. Kayla Schweitzer finished off the scoring with an unassisted goal six minutes later which led to the final result.
There is little time for the Owls to prepare for their debut on newly resurfaced Geasey Field. The home opener will be played against Albany and is scheduled for Sunday at 1:00 p.m.
